Our practitioner’s Dr Harry Ball, Dr Ken Lee, Dr Sam Talpis, Dr Krystel Skilton, Dr Sue Lim and Dr Ben Abbott are among the most experienced in the world, having treated over 14,000 patients with oral appliance therapy since 2001.
A world’s leading practitioner in the dental sleep medicine, prior to founding SleepWise Clinic he was a principal clinician at the Temporomandibular Disorders Pain Clinic at the Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital. Dr Ball has been involved in training programs in dental sleep medicine for sleep physicians and general medical practitioners. He has presented highly acclaimed educational programs for dentists throughout Australia, as well as in England, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Singapore and Malaysia. He has also presented for many organizations including the Australasian Sleep Association, Dental Health Services of Victoria, the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Association of Orthodontists. Dr Ball is the current co-chairperson of the dental sleep medicine division of the Australasian Sleep Association.
Utilising the latest clinical protocols and proven research to provide the most effective treatment, Dr Lee believes in the importance of working closely as a multi-disciplinary team with Sleep Physicians and ENTs. With a Masters of Dentistry, years of private practice experience and having been an active member of the Royal Flying Doctors Service, Dr Lee is passionate about improving health outcomes of patients with leading technology in the field of snoring and sleep apnoea. Dr Lee has a strong focus on helping people prioritise their wellbeing and health and constantly aims to deliver treatment with integrity, respect, comfort and care.
Dr Skilton graduated with honours from the School of Dentistry at the University of Western Australia in 2008. Since then, she has worked in both the public and private dental sectors. Krystel has a keen interest in sleep disordered breathing, geriatric dentistry, and orthodontics. Dr Skilton regularly attends international and local conferences to keep her at the forefront of her field. Away from dentistry, she enjoys spending time with her family and their dogs, skiing, gardening and knitting. She practices in a logical, sensible and empathetic manner and believes in educating and supporting clients to take control of their own treatment. She enjoys working as part of the SleepWise team and collaborating with other medical and dental specialists in the management sleep disordered breathing and obstructive sleep apnoea.
Dr Abbott graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2008 with a Bachelor of Dental Science degree. Originally from Tasmania, he moved to Melbourne in 2011. He is an experienced general dentist, having worked in several inner city practices. After seeing the benefits of oral devices for patients with snoring and sleep apnoea issues first-hand, he undertook further training in the field. He continues to pursue further ongoing education relating to sleep, and is a member of the Australian Sleep Association. Working in close conjunction with sleep physicians, ENT surgeons and sleep psychologists, he believes the quality of your sleep has a dramatic impact on your health, well-being and overall quality of life.
Graduating with a Masters of Dentistry, Dr Lim has since worked in both the public and private sectors. She greatly enjoys working with patients and helping them achieve their optimal health goals. Having seen the positive impact oral devices can make on patients with snoring and sleep apnoea, Dr Lim has undertaken further training in this field. Dr Lim strongly believes in working in close collaboration with sleep physicians, Ear, Nose and Throat specialists and sleep psychologists to provide the most effective management of sleep disordered breathing and obstructive sleep apnoea. Outside of work Sue enjoys spending time with friends and family, baking, and exploring the Melbourne food scene.
Dr Talpis completed his dental degree in Queensland graduating with a Bachelor of Oral Health and a Graduate Diploma of Dentistry. He has a special interest in dental sleep medicine and temporomandibular disorders.
Dr Talpis has completed a Craniofacial pain clinical residency program at the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain in the USA, a Sleep Residency in San Diego and has been accepted into the Masters degree program in Sleep Medicine at the University of Sydney.
